Darol is a type 1 diabetic diagnosed back in 2001 with an affinity for adventure and the outdoors. Being rather stubborn he has not let the disease limit what he wanted to do, ever. This blog is a collection of his stories of diabetes and being out there doing what he loves most.

Being a diabetic for nearly 20 years of adventure he is a vast knowledge of diabetes adventure and sport to share with newly diagnosed and experienced diabetic alike.
Follow Darol as he shares his tips and experiences with Type 1 Diabetes during these adventures with his insulin, glucometers, CGM, continuous blood glucose monitor and insulin pump.

Darol was diagnosed in 2011 while at boarding school with a strong sporting presence. He competed in Rugby, rowing, cycling, triathlons, athletics, skydiving and surfing all while at school.
Since then Darol has moved toward adventure sports spending a lot of time surfing, trail running, paddling, adventure racing and windsurfing all the while trying to look after his blood sugar levels.
After University Darol started the Lesotho Sky 6 Day UCI MTB stage race with Christian Schmidt in Lesotho. https://lesothosky.com/ and the Kingdom Enduro Enduro World Series qualifier 3-day MTB enduro event.
